Abstract
During the lecture, the author will try to introduce two leading representatives of Czech popular music of the second half of the 20th century, Waldemar Matuška and Karel Gott, using their songs from that time and in the context of changes in the socio-political situation in Czechoslovakia at the time. The lecture will be supplemented with examples of their work, which have been preserved on gramophone records in the archive of the author of the lecture.
