Errors in inhalation technique and their effect on bronchial asthma control

Abstract

Inhalation drug delivery is the cornerstone of treatment for asthma. Correct inhalation technique and good adherence are crucial in effective treatment.

Large proportion of patients are doing critical mistakes during inhalation, which leads to loss of asthma control with worsening of day and night symptoms, overuse of reliever medication and acute exacerbations requiring treatment with systemic corticosteroids. Inhalation technique should be routinely educated and checked.
