THE DALCROZE APPROACH AS A CATALYST FOR CONTEMPORARY ELEMENTARY MUSIC EDUCATION

Abstract

Dalcroze's approach works with an awareness of the importance of sensory learning and leads to an experience of music in time, space and energy. It integrates the kinesthetic, tactile, auditory and visual senses, and its essence is the integration of physical, emotional and intellectual experience.

The incorporation of Dalcroze's techniques can still be seen today as an example of a viable approach to elementary music education and a catalyst for activity-based music education. In the implemented workshop, participants will be offered space to move and improvise, and movement activities will be complemented by props such as balls.

The activities presented are primarily intended for music education classes for younger school-age children.
