Abstract

The PORTAL exhibition was programmed as a part of the SUMO gallery cooperative, in which local galleries invite galleries from abroad to collaborate. The gallery Holešovická šachta approached the Viennese curator Daniel Hüttler and the Viennese gallery Clubclub for cooperation.

The result was a group exhibition, primarily featuring artists from Prague and Vienna, which took place in three variations or chapters - first opening at the Holešovická šachta on 1 September, then at the Clubclub gallery in Vienna on 8 September, and then again at the Holešovická šachta on 20 September, but in a completely new coat. At the core of the exhibition was the idea of a portal connecting two European cities, and the artists participating in it exhibited related but disparate works in both of them.

At the heart of the exhibition was the desire to connect two painters - the Czech Matyáš Maláč and the Austrian Sebastian Mittel. They were then joined by other artists.
