Theodosius, the Goths and the Slavs: Olympia at the dawn of a new age

Abstract

This lecture will discuss the development of an important ancient sanctuary in Olympia during the Late Antiquity and the early medieval period. Base on the archaeological evidence, the different phases of site's development, the arrival of new elements of material culture as well as a discussion of their bearers, i.e. the Slavs, will be presented.
