Life is said in many ways. Questions around Renaud Barbaras

Abstract

Life has been at the centre of phenomenological analysis since the work of Husserl, Heidegger and Merleau-Ponty. Nevertheless, we can observe a double plurality in the use of the notion of "life" in phenomenology: plurality of attribution (life is sometimes attributed to consciousness, sometimes to organisms, sometimes identified with existence) and semantic plurality (life is said in several meanings).

It is in the light of these two pluralities that this article examines the latest work by Renaud Barbaras.
