Abstrakt
The article analyzes various aspects of the linguistic representation of European identity in the public speeches of the Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala. As the study showed, in his speech there are precedent names and precedent statements, various conceptual metaphors are used (EU IS A HOUSE, EU POLITICS IS SPORT, EU POLITICS IS A WAY, etc.), as well as metonymy, emphasizing the unity of EU member states or to the unity of the citizens of the Czech Republic.
In the statements of Petr Fiala, we can observe the construction and maintenance of the dichotomy "friend or foe", indicating the place of the Czech Republic in the EU on the basis of shared values, policies and leading ideology (freedom, democracy, free movement, etc.).
