Czech as a non-native language of the deaf

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2023

Abstract

This article is based on a paper presented at the conference How to Make Hearing Impaired People Accessible (18 September 2023). It explains that Czech is not the mother tongue of most Czech deaf people and that Czech sign language is not dependent on Czech.

It also explains that although deaf people can read Czech written texts, it does not mean that everyone can understand what they read.
