Abstract

Lecture about short works, the so-called opuscula, written by Crux of Telč. Following an introduction into the developing form of medieval script, closely connected with the spread of paper during the late Middle Ages, and the hand of Crux of Telč, by which the works copied by him can be recognized, the contents of several manuscripts copied by Crux are discussed.

A significant portion of his work comprises mnemonics, which are covered in the wider context of medieval universities and learning. The lecture then offers insight into Crux's copies of the list of customs associated with the feast of St.

John the Baptist, revealing of his interest in folk culture, and of instructions on how to find a treasure by magic.
