Abstract
The university textbook "Deutsch in der Physiotherapie" was created to strengthen language competences and skills of students of the Faculty of Health Professions of the University of Life Sciences in Prešov. The teaching material will be used in the teaching of students - future physiotherapists in the bachelor's degree.
The textbook consists of 10 lessons, which are oriented to professional problems related to the profession of physiotherapist. In addition to the professional issues with which a physiotherapist in German-speaking countries may encounter, the textbook also contains a brief A brief overview of German grammar.
The textbook is primarily oriented towards developing communication skills. In order to make the material more accessible, some exercises and grammatical rules are given in Slovak.
The textbook seeks to extend and complete physiotherapist's professional knowledge in contact with medical staff and patients abroad. The content is oriented towards familiarising the physiotherapist with the means of expression and phrases related to activities that fall within the physiotherapist's job description, such as taking physiotherapy history, patient care, etc.
Appropriate guidance may be a lesson on correspondence, i.e. writing a job application or making cover letter and also telephone communication in the workplace. Teaching material is intended for both full-time and part-time students in physiotherapy, which can be be used in particular in the teaching of intermediate students whose initial level of anguage proficiency is B1.
