Abstract
Melissa Shih-hui Lin's textbook My First Course in Czech has all the prerequisites to become a functional and useful basic textbook written in Chinese for Taiwanese beginner students: it responds to a situation where (at NCCU) textbooks written in the Czech Republic are traditionally used to teach Czech, but they always need to be adapted considerably for the purposes of specific courses there. Therefore, the author has prepared an aid for the basic course Czech I, taught at NCCU, as an introduction that provides a basic understanding of the Czech language, its relevance, and a brief overview of its culture and country.
The review introduces the textbook as a LSP text and provides examples of the texts and exercises presented in it.
