Abstract
The review introduces, critically assesses and illustrates with examples the new textbook We Treat in Czech. Czech for Nurses and Other Health Professionals (Karolinum 2022).
It is another in a series of language textbooks created under the guidance of experienced and proven author Iveta Čermáková. It follows on from the author's previous publication (Čermáková, I.: Talking Medicine - Czech for Medical Students.
Karolinum 2018, 2020), which is used in teaching Czech to foreigners at all medical faculties in the Czech Republic. In contrast to that, the new text is intended for a different audience: all non-medical health professionals who come to the Czech Republic from Ukraine and want to learn Czech.
It is therefore appropriately and purposefully adapted to specific practical needs: it focuses on the basic vocabulary used in common practice in those professions and is based on Ukrainian.
