The first part of the book is devoted to the festivities and cult of St. John of Nepomuk in the 17th and 18th centuries.
The author traces the development of the Baroque legend, which was founded on the foundations of the medieval veneration of this saint. He also deals with the celebrations held from the beginning of the 18th century on ships on the Vltava River on the eve of Nepomuk's feast day.
At the same time, it describes a number of manifestations of the cult of this saint, such as the religious confraternities founded in his honour, his Prague pilgrimage sites, the decoration and course of various festivals associated with him, etc. One of the topics is also devoted to the views of foreigners who visited Prague on this cult.
