The article deals with the topic of children's resilience in the school environment from the perspective of the organization Cyril Mooney Value Education. It is a community approach to education in the form applied by Sister Cyril Mooney at the Loreto Sealdah School in Calcutta and inspired by the Czech organization HVCM (www.hvcm.cz) with regard to the Czech educational context.
In addition to the non-competitive setting of relations, it also rests on other principles. They are the value vision that the school communicates to parents and pupils, support for the personal growth of teachers, participative management, peer learning, systematic value education (e.g. in the form of a separate subject), balanced assessment of academic performance and work for the community, and last but not least, the connection of the school with the surrounding world.
Each of these elements enhances student resilience as it emphasizes character development hand-in-hand with adequate learning demands.
