Abstract
The study offers Patočka's reflection on the tasks of interwar Czechoslovak philosophy and the leading role played by Masaryk. For Patočka, contemporary Czechoslovak philosophy is essentially just Masaryk's thought and the response that this thought provokes in other authors.
The contemporary thought is then guided by a reflection on the contemporary crisis, a theme that has defined Masaryk's thought since his famous study on suicide.
