On the typology and iconography of motifs on the Romanesque tympanum of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Plasy

Abstract

The contribution in the collective monograph discusses the typology and iconography of motifs on the Romanesque tympanum of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Plasy. Individual motifs on the tympanum are interpreted in the spirit of order spirituality (a reference to the monastery as a garden of Paradise).

Attention was also focused on the interpretation of the labyrinth on the far side of the tympanum
