Use of non-standard strategies for solving mathematics problems at the lower and upper secondary levels

Abstract

The lecture focused on the importance and roles of situations supporting pupils' mathematical creativity (finding own solving procedures in non-standard situations), and on possibilities that teachers have for changing pupils' approach to solving problems from using a ready-made algorithm towards own creative looking for suitable, sometimes heuristic solving procedures.
