Abstract
The traditional music of the Cape Verde Islands became famous in the world mainly by the singer Cesária Évora. Morna is characterized by a slow pace, a melancholic mood and a steady register of themes, among which there is no shortage of love relationships, love for the homeland or the sea, or departures and returns.
However, the problems of the contemporary world penetrate into the songs.
