Abstract

The article deals with the mutual contacts of German Studies at the Universities of Bratislava and Prague from 1922, when German Studies were founded at the Comenius University in Bratislava, until the political changes in Czechoslovakia in 1989. The attention is paid especially to the personalities of the Czech higher education system, who were engaged at the Institute of German Studies in Bratislava (František Kalda, Jan Krejčí), and to the representatives of German Studies at the University of Bratislava, who guaranteed the professional development of German Studies at the University of Prague (Elemír Terray).

At the same time, the historical circumstances, under which the mutual contacts between German Studies in Bratislava and Prague were developed, are also taken into account in the article.
