The collective monograph consists of two parts - basic scientific and complementary. It is focused on an exceptional personality of Czech national history, one of the founders of the Czechoslovak state, a politician, statesman, but also a simple man, a peasant Antonín Švehla.
The work focuses on the well-known, already researched aspects of his work as well as on new, exploratory areas, and is characterised not by an adorative concept but by a critical approach that seeks a balanced, complete treatise of Švehla in the public and private spheres. The collective monograph is the work of 27 authors who present the personality of Antonín Švehla in an interdisciplinary framework.
The sub-chapters, which were written on the basis of research, present new knowledge and as a whole form a comprehensive view of Antonín Švehla's personality. The publication also aims to become a means of better understanding the First Czechoslovak Republic and its heritage, contributing to the understanding of the traditions of modern Czech statehood.
