Adsorbate-induced Aggregation of Silver Colloids and Irreversible Loss of SERS Signal due to Irradiation

Abstract

Temporal evolution of the SERS spectra from Ag colloids were studied as a function of their aggregation state. Gradual disappearing of the SERS signal with exposure time was observed for higly aggregated systems and explained as photoinduced desorption of the analytes from the interparticle sites.
