Abstract

In this work the copper loaded CeO2 and SnO2 samples were characterized using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The catalytic properties of these systems prepared by conventional impregnation method were carried out in a flow micro-reactor.

Four different samples were prepared by calcination and reduction procedures of Cu-CeO2 and Cu-SnO2. It was shown in terms of the low temperature CO oxidation the best sample was calcined Cu-CeO2, containing elongated particles CuO of about 25 nm in diameter.

Such nano-structured copper loaded oxide catalyst could be a promising system for removing CO produced in a wet reaction for fuel cell applications.
