Abstract

Aim of this project is to develop turbulent boundary layer with characteristic parameters belonging to the category called 'very rough' or 'rough' derived from a Snyder's classification Guideline For Fluid Modeling (1981). The experiment is conducted in low-speed open-circuit wind-tunnel Wotan of Meteorological Institute of Hamburg University in Germany.

The primary goal was to attain a very rough turbulent boundary layer that would have been established in the tunnel for the very first time. Whole experimental set-up had to be designed and verified before an experiment could have been executed.

The verification procedure is based on velocity measurement performed with 2-D component fibre optic laser Doppler anemometry.
