Abstract

We describe many properties of Stewart-Gough platforms with simple geometrical structure concerning singularities and direct kinematics. They are characterized by the condition that the rank of the matrix of the coordinates of their anchor points is equal to three.

They have no self-motions unless they are architecturally singular and they have a very special singularity set.
