Bone remodeling driven by dynamic loading and drug treatment

Abstract

The bone remodelling process is based on its biochemical description including RANKL-RANK-OPG chain. The rate of each chemical reaction strongly depends on dynamic loading and that is why the model is able to describe the influence of dynamic loading together with biochemical control mechanisms (e.g. osteoprotegerin) possibly drug treatment.

The presented model of bone adaptation show behaviour that has good corelation with experimental (and clinical) experience and results. Because the main factor limiting the lifetime of many prosthesis is unwanted adaptation of bone to the new loading condition, we use mentioned model to predict the response of bone.
