Abstract

Collaboration of commerce and academia in IT is crucial for the research, eductaion, commerce, and production of IT. There are, however, many barriers of the collaboration.

Some of the barriers can be avoided if we properly use service-oriented infromation systems enabling new collaboration variants. Autonomous software artifacts (services) enable the development and verification of new procedures, technologies, and methodsdeveloped by academia inside commercial products.

The tested outputs of academia can be integrated integrated without substantial risks as services of commercial service-oriented systems. At the same time it is the only known feasible way of involement of students and their professorsinto development of projects of production types.

It is crucila for the quality of education and to a high degree also for academic research.
