Steady and Decaying Quantum Turbulence Generated in He II Flow by Counterflow and Pure Superflow

Abstract

Turbulence state in superfluid He II was generated by counterflow or pure superflow in channels of circular and square crossection. Vortex line density was detected by second sound attenuation measurements.

The new data on the steady state and decaying He II turbulence provide an evidence that the nature of quantum turbulence in He II above 1 K depends most likely on the way of its generation.
