Abstract

For transferring the data between XML documents and (object-)relational structures so-called mapping methods are of a great importance. A basic classification of existing mapping methods includes the following three classes: generic methods, which do not use any schema of stored XML documents, schema-driven methods based on existing schema of stored XML documents, and user-defined methods based on user-defined mapping.

The paper overviews possible classifications of the respective methods. Their evaluation and discussion follow.
