Maharal´s Anthropology: Toward Defining the Limits of his Humanism

Abstract

The Maharal (Judah Loew ben Bezalel, ca. 1525-1609) is one of the essential Jewish thinkers of the 16th C. His writings manifest certain similarities with the thought of the Renaissance humanists.

The article aims at showing the nature of the similarities and esp. their limitations.
