Abstract

The monograph is devoted to the work of the Hungarian novellist Mór Jókai (1825-1904) from the viewpoint of a Czech scholar of Hungarian studies. Jókai was one of the Hungarian novelists most often translated into Czech.

The monograph addresses the problem of genre in Jókai's work from the point of contemporary as well as later literary criticism; as well as from the viewpoint of the author himself on the basis of his published commentaries.
