Introduced here is a learning tool of a new type, so called hybrid book - in this case an English reader for the students with special needs. This type of modern audiovisual computer learning programme is in great favour at foreign universities because it stimulates both sight and hearing of all the students which enables not only deaf, blind and multiple handicapped students, but in fact anyone interested in improving their reading and listening skills in that particular language to work with the reader.
As this hybrid book was created in four language mutations (Czech, English, German, Russian), and because the basic characteristics of such a learning tool is that the written text, being projected on the computer screen, is at the same time voiced over, students can get back to single paragraphs and more difficult text passages several times at their individual pace which makes the hybrid book an ideal resource also for the self-access programmes of foreign language studies.
