Fantasy and Laugh versus the Information about the Otherness: Two Different Functions of Wine in Brazilian Literature

Abstract

This paper shows which functions has the wine in selected texts of Brazilian literature. Wine can help to specify a stranger, it can be aid in allegoric testimony of barbarous reality and it serves to entertainment and distraction as well, either as a simple medium to inebriation and to the effects connected with it or as a literary subject.
