The Old New World: Theatre and Drama in Newfoundland

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2009

Abstract

The article employs the discourse of Newfoundland drama and theatre for analysis of the concepts of cultural (un)belonging, and aesthetic universality versus particularity, and to demonstrate what this strikingly vital form of artistic expression has to say to/about the people of the province, Canadians as a nation, as well as theatre audiences at large.
