Abstract
The contribution deals with synonymous pairs of lexical units of the type > and > in Italian. The particularity of this phenomenon is that in these lexical units, the order of constituents seems casual, which is a very unusual situation in the domain of Lexical morphology.
However, our results show that the phenomenon can be explained by the theory of "potentiality? or "synchronic dynamism? of language system, formulated by Vilem Mathesius at the beginning of the 20th century.
