Abstract
The study focuses on the "youxian", "roaming into immortality", current of early medieval Chinese verse. Its rise and transformations are traced on the basis of central themes, imagery and poetic conventions.Its relations to other poetic currents and to religious beliefs and practices of the period are considered as well.
