From potentiality to synchronic dynamism: forgotten heritage of Prague School

Abstract

The paper presents and summarize the theory of "potentiality? of the Language system and his further development in Prague linguistic school. Originally proposed by Vilem Mathesius in his paper "On the Potentiality of Phenomena of Language? from 1911, it?s actually better known as theory of "dynamic synchrony? of Language system.
