Abstract
The contribution deals with the way the semiotic series of the Chodsko (a border region situated between Bohemia and Bavaria)and the Chods was constituted.It examines the language of monuments in literary and journalistic discourses during the 19th and 20th centuries, which lead to the symbol of the Chodsko both as a reminder of the past and an exemple.
