Sport after total knee and hip arthroplasty

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2009

Abstract

After big joints arthroplasty some patients wish not only to have general functions restored, but also the opportunity to return to high levels of activity. The aim of our study was to find risks for and negative influences on the prosthesis during intensive sport activity.

Generally, low-impact sports are recommended. High-impact sports can lead to implant failure.

Endoprosthesis is not designed for repeated stress overloading.
