Ascaris lumbricoides - round worm

Abstract

Ascaris lumbricoides (round worm) is the most common helminth affecting gastrointestinal tract of humans. This parasitic infection causing important medical and social problem especially in the countries with wormer climate and under-developing countries.

The parasite is present also in the Czech Republic area. Obstruction of the intestinal tract by Ascaris lumbricoides is one of the serious complication.

The pancreatitis, the cholecystitis and the apendicitis and others may be present also very rarely.
