NSAID-induced enteropathy

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2009

Abstract

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are the most commonly prescribed drugs worldwide. These drugs can cause serious injury to any part of the gastrointestinal tract, including life threatening complications like bleeding or perforation.

Wireless capsule endoscopy should be the first line diagnostic option nowadays. Double balloon enteroscopy follows if further diagnostic workup and/or endoscopic treatment (dilatation, control of bleeding) are needed.
