Abstract
Parasitic worms (helmints) can be found worldwide, although a higher occurrence is visible in tropical and sub-tropical areas. Pathogenesis of parasitic diseases, principles of diagnostic and therapeutical procedures, necessity of information prior to travel to risk areas and preventive and anti-epidemic countermeasures can be well understood only with precise knowledge of the parasitic biology.
