To Some Problems of Bohemian Sculpture of 14th Century. Three Comments on the State of Research

Publication at Catholic Theological Faculty |
2005

Abstract

The three comments correlate the relation of the significant artists who were, as a matter of fact, determinating the development of 14th century sculpture, toward France. The first comment is dedicated to the Master of Michle Madonna and her relation to Parisian sculpture approximately 1320-1330 which appears to be a possible stylish source of the Master of Michle.

Other two comments deal with the sculpture of Petr Parler, his tombstones (and the possibility that the fundamental French influence could be mediated through Cologne) and mainly his excellent Madonna in Klodzko and her realtions to Parler sculpture. Summary: The comments form the hypothesis about the significant role of French, especially Parisian one, for the production in Prague.
