Abstract
This article discusses the personality of Joseph Calasanctius and his involvement in education and spirituality of 17th century society. It analyzes the various elements that have become part of the Piarist spirituality and gave rise to a new order.
It focuses in particular on the importance of Joseph Calasanctius and his schools in the education of children from the weakest social strata and on Piarist approaches in education.
