The study argues against the commonly reported view that the church was originally dedicated to St. Cross.
For the first time we can find it in the Mojžíš?s Chronicle in the late 18th century when the author added the patronage to Balbín?s data. Other circumstances, however, speaks for preservation of consecration of St.
Nicholas unchanged from the beginning.
