Abstract
Plutarch (50-120 A. D.) discusses the problem of why the oracles at Delphi are no longer given in verse, reaching the conclusion that the disappearance of versified oracular responses does not mean a decline of the Delphic Oracle but is rather is due to the changing spirit of the epoch.
