Abstract
The book deals with critical and emergent conditions in patients with liver diseases. It gives the physiology and pathophysiology of these conditions, focusing on problems of acute liver failure due to various causes.
Critical conditions in chronic liver failure, especially in portal hypertension, are assessed. Problems of liver transplantation, mainly its indication, are described.
At the end of the book the recommended procedures for the treatment of acute liver conditions are put forward.
