Abstract
The activity of B1 subset of B lymphocytes is physiologicaly increased during early infancy. B1 cells are the source of natural antibodies.
Natural antibodies, predominantly of IgM isotype, are broadly polyreactive and are directed against both microbial and self targets. The presence of natural antibodies could interfere with the detection of specific antibodies against microbial agents.
Their presence could be responsible for false positivity in the detection of autoantibodies in early childhood.: B1 subset; natural antibodies; false positivity
