Pharmacological options of sinus rhythm control in patients with atrial fibrilation

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2007

Abstract

The article reminds of the pharmacological possibilities for keeping the sinus rhythm with all its benefits and disadvantages. To keep the sinus rhythm by means of antiarrhythmics for a longer time remains a problem (so far we can reach it in 30 ? 70%).

No antiarrhmythmic is unambiguously efficient in prevention of relapses of atrial fibrillation. Results of randomized studies showed that amiodaron is more effective than other antiarrhythmics.

The results lead to research of new antiarrhythmics and to more and more frequent consideration of non-pharmacological treatment indication.
