Abstract
Artificial pulmonary ventilation presents one of the basic procedures of patients´ organ support in intensive care without regard to the cause of the critical condition, and it involves many fields of medicine. Artificial pulmonary ventilation has considerably developed in recent decades.
This development has not been described in any comprehensible, coherent, generally available and clearly arranged source in Czech medical literature, thus prompting us to prepare this publication. The book should help physicians being prepared for work in intensive care units but may also be useful information for any other specialists.
