Abstract

The amount of antidepressants prescribed in the USA during the last few months due to the fight against terrorism, economic stress and growth of unemployment has risen. But even before this rise, antidepressants including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI), were not used properly.

Withdrawal syndrome, set of signs caused by an abrupt end to the use of this medication, occurs in about 25% of patients. Dr.

Ditto describes the incidence, onset, course and severity of the signs and shows how the above mentioned syndrome is recognizable without demanding complementary examinations.
